Upon completion the Purchase, you will be provided with Elite Code. Depending on method of purchase,  Elite Code will be either displayed on 'Thank you' Page or will be sent via e-mail and needs to be linked  to your Hotspot Shield Elite account.

Once the purchase complete you will be prompted to create Hotspot Shield Account. Creating Hotspot Shield account from the link on Thank You Page will link  Elite Code to your account automatically.

USER MUST CREATE HOTSPOT SHIELD ACCOUNT AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE, OTHERWISE THE ELITE CODE WILL NOT BE LINKED TO THE ACCOUNT.

If you have not created account at the time of purchase, please follow steps below to activate your account.

1. Go to www.hsselite.com/sign-up and create account with e-mail that you have used (if asked) at the time of purchase.

2A. If your code has been linked already, your Dashboard will display your Elite Account Expiration Date and you will be prompted to link Devices to your account. Click "Add device now".

2B. If your code has not been linked yet, your dashboard will not show expiration date. Click 'Redeem License" and enter your 15-digit Elite Code. Download Hotspot Shield on platform of your choice via corresponding download button.

3. Please refresh browser and Updated Elite Dashboard with linked devices and valid membership will be displayed.

Lucia October 05, 2013 11 FAQ / Using your Hotspot Shield Elite service

Hotspot Shield has 2 Modes Available - FREE and Elite.

Hotspot Shield FREE Mode features:
- has only US virtual location available
- will display Payment Wall when trying to access BBC, Netflix, Hulu, etc
- is ad-supported will display our sponsor's ad (banner) at the top of the browser

You switch from FREE Mode to Hotspot Shield Elite Mode by logging in to your Elite Account via Sign In Button on Hotspot Shield Panel.

Hotspot Shield Elite Mode features:
- offers US (default), UK, Australia and Japan virtual locations
- will NOT display Payment Wall while trying to access Netflix, Hula and BBC(UK) sites
- offers ad-free browsing (will not display our sponsor's ad at the top of the browser)


When you start Hotspot Shield for the first time it will be running in Free Mode. You must log in with valid Elite username/password to enjoy Elite features.

Windows  Elite

1. Elite Label Present on the Panel

2. Button 'Sign Out' offers option to log off Elite Account

3. Banner: Elite Membership Expiration Date displayed 

 

Windows  FREE

1. No Elite Label Present

2. Button 'Sign In' offers option to log into Elite Account

Lucia October 01, 2013 2 FAQ / Using your Hotspot Shield Elite service

If you have Expat Shield Application installed on your computer device and  have purchased Hotspot Shield Elite, please follow steps below to activate your Hotspot Shield membership:

1. Uninstall Expat Shield:
To uninstall Expat Shield go to the Control Panel -> Programs and Features or Add/Remove Programs. Find and select Expat Shield, click on Uninstall/Change, then click on the grey 'uninstall' button in the window that pops up and follow the on-screen instructions to uninstall.

2. Reboot your computer device.

3. Create Hotspot Shield Account at www.hsselite.com/sign-up

4. Click Redeem License and enter your Elite Code that you have received with the e-mail receipt of purchase

5. Follow instructions how to set up your Elite Account per link below:

You need to be logged into your Hotspot Shield Elite Account to be able to switch to UK, Australia or Japan virtual location and to view Netflix, BBC or Hulu videos without seeing payment wall. If you are not logged into your Hotspot Shield Elite account, you are running in Hotspot Shield Free Mode which provide only US virtual location, offers ad-supported browsing and will prompt with Payment Wall when trying access Netflix, BBC or Hulu videos.

Steps to get your desktop Elite service working on Mac and Windows

  1. Create an account  www.hsselite.com/sign-up  (or sign in for you already have an account)
  2. Confirm your time has been added to your account in the the Time left section of the dashboard.  If it has not, click Redeem license and enter your license code.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             Time_Left.jpg
  3. Download the client to your computer and install the software if you do not already have it installed.
  4. Follow the prompts to install and/or launch the service.   The control panel will open and connection will start.  Once connected, please click on the Sign In button to upgrade to the Elite service you purchased .

  5. A tab will launch in the browser asking you to Sign In.
  6. Once you are signed in, the service will disconnect and reconnect and you will see a message you have been upgraded to Elite.                                          Upgrade_To_Elite.jpg
  7. The control panel will change to show Hotspot Shield Elite next to the icon and a button will change from 'Sign In' to 'Sign Out'. The banner on HotspotShield Panel will no longer display advertising, but your account expiration date.                                                                                                              Signed_into_Elite.jpg

To make sure you are always getting Elite services, do not click Sign Out.  This will automatically downgrade you to the Free Ad Supported version until you Sign In again.

With the release of new Hotspot Shield version 1.5.2, Android platform was added to Elite Subscription.
Now Android user is required to login in order to access account.

To create an account on Android device:

1. Start Hotspot Shield.
2. Tap on My Account.
3. Create Account Screen opens (existing Elite users need to click on the link ‘Already have an account?’).

4. Enter e-mail and password to create or log into account.

5. Your existing Android Subscription will get linked to your newly created (or existing) username and you will get upgraded to Elite.

If you attempt to turn Hotspot Shield ON without Log in, the error will display:
